What we've had for years is a terrible half measure of local vaults being supported but ignored for any future features. Once they decided whether they wanted 1Password to be a local password manager or a cloud password manager, they should have gone 100% in the direction they chose. Personally, I think it's a decision that should have been done ages ago. Agilebits decided years ago that 1Password subscriptions were the future, and this is the natural destination of that. I think the writing was on the wall that they were going to do this many years ago.
